Welcome to Southern Cross Ranch! We offer horse boarding, lessons, and training. We are now welcoming new boarders and students. We have 17 pastures and 12 stalls for boarding, a spacious tack room, air conditioned boarders lounge with TV, 3 round pens, horse walker, 3 arenas, jump course, trail obstacles, barrels, roping dummy, cowboy mounted shooting targets, 3 miles of shaded trails along the Omussee Creek, etc. Come out and see our place!

State Championship Shoot

June Open Show

June 1-2 will be the next WOHA Open show. Speed Events will be on Friday night starting at 6:30. The remainder of the classes will be Saturday starting at 10 a.m. Mrs. Carolyn Smith will be our judge. Don't forget the lower pre-entry rates. Deadline for pre entries will be May 28, 2012.

Lessons

Southern Cross Ranch now has a new Riding Instructor, Ivey Katz. 334-685-9266

Ivey has been riding horses all her life. She began showing at 9 years old. Some of her accomplishments include: Open Horse Show all around champion for the year 1990 and 1992, numerous awards in halter, showmanship,english, western pleasure, horsemanship, equitation, and trail. She was Northwest Florida Quarter Horse Association Western Pleasure Champion. Accumulation of points in AQHA for English and Western events. At 16 years old, Ivey won three Reserve Grand National Championships at PFHA Grand Nationals. In 1997 Ivey was Alabama State 4-H Dressage champion and 1st place for Team Demonstation. In 1998, She won 1st Place in Dressage at Ft. Rucker Equestrian Center, and in Marianna, FL. She won ROM and TOP, placed at PFHA Nationals numerous times, and was Reserve National Champion in 2005.

Ivey has trained under PBHA Champion Riders Cliff and Carol Harden, Respected Dressage riders Joyce Johnson and Mary Baltakawski, and PFHA World known trainer Robin Ratliff. She has also trained under Three day Event Rider Tom Harvey (3rd Place Winner in the Rolex 3 day Event)

She has attended many dressage clinics including an invitation only by US Olympic rider Debbie Lane.

Ivey is 32 years old, married to Joey Katz, and has two children (Morgan and Mo). She graduated from Troy University with a degree in Secondary Education/English Language Arts. She has taught children ages 3-19 at Ashford and Ashford Academy. Ivey is currently competing in CMSA, Stock Horse Shows, and WOHA Open Shows. Her daughter, Morgan, is competing in Barrel Racing, Reining, Walk-Trot, and other classes at the WOHA Open Shows.

Ivey wants to combine her love of Horses and Riding with her love of Teaching.

She specializes in: Beginner Riding, Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Dressage, and Barrel Racing
